Citizens Shaping the Future
DESCRIPTION /
The CITIZENS project ("European Perspectives: Citizens Shaping the Future") is an innovative initiative that promotes exchange among European citizens and aims to strengthen their active participation in democratic processes. The project addresses key challenges in Europe, including democracy, migration, gender equality, and European identity. By establishing citizen councils in five European cities, a platform is created where people from various social, cultural, and demographic backgrounds come together to develop solutions collectively.
GOALS /
Strengthening Democracy: Actively involving citizens in political decision-making processes to enhance democratic awareness.
Citizen Councils as Participatory Tools: The discussions and outcomes of these councils will be incorporated into international meetings to influence political strategies.
Equality and Inclusion: A strong focus is placed on gender equality and the integration of migrants.
Strengthening European Identity: Citizens are encouraged to engage with the values and future visions of Europe.
OUTCOMES /
Establishment of citizen councils in participating cities to develop concrete proposals for policymakers.
Organization of international panel discussions to present the developed positions.
Creation of a position paper summarizing the views and recommendations of the citizen councils.
Raising awareness and sensitization on topics such as democracy, migration, equality, and European identity.
ROLE OF FEMEDUBEART /
FEMEDUBEART is responsible, among other things, for coordinating discussion forums on gender equality and ensuring a gender-balanced and diverse participation through targeted information and engagement measures. Additionally, FEMEDUBEART supports the implementation of sustainable citizen participation processes.
